Summer Wanes...

House atop Dunes - will paint today!
The building of a Playmobil village
Inside the sketchbook I took to the beach. Not much time to draw but I did get a few in.
Riding the Dragon Coaster!

Tracing the witch's broom for a Halloween/fall quilt my mom and I are making. This will be embroidered. The whole project will take at least 6 months to a year the rate I'm going!

We're back from our second trip to the soft-sandy beach of the Oregon coast. It was warm, sunny, slightly breezy and pure heaven. I'm making it last by drawing tons of scenes from there. Have not had much time to share here but once school starts, things will be different. Enjoying every last day of summer vacay and all it has to offer. Hope y'all are doing the same!

Our son's super cute book about a day in his life
Marching teaspoons
Pie Factory Sugar cube dash
Here are a few more monoprints in the Factory series and the masterpiece... my son's portrait of our family. I just love getting stacks of completed school work. Especially when they include his drawings - they make me smile from the inside out!
We've looking forward to sunny, summer weather this week! Hurrah! I can always use some sun to fuel the artmaking process. Happy Monday.

New Quilting Directions and Thread Painting Dabble

Thread painting

I dug out a quilt that had been started... ? about a year ago and thought I'd try using 'Wonder Under' to speed things along. (applique could take me a lifetime to complete at this point in my life!) I actually used my sewing machine for this. (I normally only sew by hand when making quilts -just an 'unplugged' kind of girl)

My mom talked me through how to go about thread painting on the phone and boom, I was off. (she really is a Svengali when it comes to sewing!) Next time I'll do it on ivory fabric... so hard to see on that grey cotton. I tried it on a few quilt blocks after a little practice. It's like driving without any brakes.... but I've learned you have to embrace that out of control feeling.
