A Touch of Orange

On my birthday, my mom took us for lunch (daughter & moi). After, it was off to a very cute and well-stocked quilt shop. We were just going to 'check out what's new' but the fat quarters beckoned! Here's a little collection I couldn't live without, the orange really appealed to me... plans for a throw are in the works. Happy Friday y'all.

At the Fair...

I chaperoned on an all-day field trip to the fair last week... here are some of the lovely sights we saw. It has been quite awhile since our family has gone. Growing up in a small town, the fair was the highlight of summer for a lot of kids... you didn't want to miss all the animals, junk food and carnival rides. It was surprisingly an easy trip with a group of kindergartners - we were there studying animals.

The next morning, I read in the paper about a group of mental patients from Eastern State Hospital were there for a 'field trip' (unknown to the fair administration). Around 11am, one of them escaped... a convicted killer who is a paranoid schizophrenic. He was finally captured over the weekend. What are the chances he would be at the fair the same time we were? There were several school field trips that morning. Hopefully the 'fair people' will tighten up their policies and security. Ensures my 'hand-holding policy' for a good 10 more years!! Pretty scary stuff.

From the Sketchbook

Here's an older sketch I did of some men in top hats at the horse races. I used Conte crayon (sepia)... I like the lines they make. A blue drawing by my son - he leaves pictures for me in my sketchbooks from time to time as a 'surprise', I love it when he does that!
The 3rd photograph is the inside of my daughter's new coat... fall colors, leaves and butterflies... so cute and charming I had to share it. Have a relaxing Sunday :)

Alchemy Scarf

Finally I've finished my fall scarf! It's made of the luxurious 'Alchemy silk yarn'... can't wait to wear it. It is so very soft and the colors are variegated olive green and a light chocolate brown. These photos don't really do it justice... plus you have to feel it for the 'full effect'! It's still too warm to wear it , but what a cozy feeling to be knitting in the cool, breezy evening, sitting on the floor with family. After I weave the 'tails' in I'll be focusing on finishing a pair of socks for my mom's birthday in November.

Trees in a Chair Forest

I got my battery charger back, yay! I've been working a lot while my camera was out of commission... Now I have more new things to show off and I always welcome your comments. What do you think I should do with these new felt pieces? Purses, wall hangings or pillows??? I've made purses in the past but am wondering if a change is needed. I'd love to hear your opinions if you'd like to leave a comment.
