Big Night

It seems I've been working on the sleeping mermaid quilt for a very long time... and I'm not even close to being done. Here is a little progress... earlier in the week, the wave border was painted and doodled over with my fave water ditty. Then, decisions about the quilt she's laying on. So tough!! Traditional log cabin, granny's garden, flying geese??? After much deliberation, I thought about mid-century textiles and felt this design lent itself to an undersea barnacle kind of world in an abstract sort of way.

My daughter has not weighed in on the choices of color yet... hope she likes it.

Tonight is the opening of my art quilt show at the Tinman Too Gallery in Spokane. Check it out! It will be showing all month. Happy Friday, all :)

Winter Owls

Here are just a few of the owls and birds I've been sewing for the local artist's Christmas ornament show. (at Tinman Artworks) It was so much fun getting these fowl together... mostly for the embellishments! (getting out the felting machine is always big fun too.) If there are any left... I'll put 'em in the etsy shop in time for Christmas shipping.

Making Progress

The Kite Shop at the Beach
Arles Cafe
Perfumed Hilltop

I'd rather be posting completely finished pieces today... but 'life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.' (Thank you, John Lennon... such true words in 'Mommyland'!) Today I will finish up and perhaps Sat. The Kite Shop is done, though and I'm really happy with it. It's a good sign when you really just want to keep it for yourself! These will probably land in my etsy shop sometime next month.
For fun today, my daughter and I are going to the annual quilt show here in Spokane. It's a yearly ritual for me and now for her since she's gone with me her whole life! I'll be hoping to get a bit of new, brightly colored wool felt from the vendor section.... hooo-haa! Have a happy Friday.

She is featured along side Writer-in Residence, Alexandra Stoddard in this month's issue on page 19. What an honor to be in the same show with such an artist! Note: I have updated my Etsy shop with some new prints and a few small paintings, check it out! :)

They are at 33 W. 34th St. from 1 - 5 pm today or by appointment. (509) 747-5267. The show will run through May 31. This is just a taste of the work there, I'll have to take more photographs to show more of the artist's work!
