Mother and Child

Here's a new print I just painted for the first time today. Will likely take out the line by her mouth! I can't help myself... love that bright orange - can't get enough of it! I've been experimenting with some dreamy, half surreal drawings but have to work up the courage to show them. They are not the usual fare although there are plenty of female figures and water. Maybe later in the week after color has been added they'll turn up.

A Painter's Hands

My daughter is a painter/artist at heart I think. She doesn't care about getting dirty and will work for a very long time - often singing to herself. She knows when she's done with a piece... and when to begin a new painting. Everything she makes, she seems to love and wants to display it right away. She finds no fault in her work and seems so very sure of herself. I want to be like her when I grow up :)

Here's a new woodblock print I've been working on. I've been kind of slow carving it, I keep making decisions about where it's going. It's been a different process than usual... maybe I'm subconsciously changing my process(?!). One of my woodblock prints was featured in a treasury... music-themed. (it was Practicing Chopin). I'm so impaired when it comes to computers... I can't figure out how to link it. arg. Anyway, it's an honor!
