Here is a wooden cigar box that I painted with a border around the sides. It is from a photograph of an old
French clock I took in a museum in
Arles. The background is a bit unresolved, I glazed a white wash over it, and will probably add a light color to it.
These boxes are great if you like painting on wood. I have done dozens of these as
jewel boxes,lined with velvet. I'll have to find some photographs and post them sometime.

My daughter is a painter/artist at heart I think. She doesn't care about getting dirty and will work for a very long time - often singing to herself. She knows when she's done with a piece... and when to begin a new painting. Everything she makes, she seems to love and wants to display it right away. She finds no fault in her work and seems so very sure of herself. I want to be like her when I grow up :)
These paintings are unfinished, naturally... but here's some progress. I have a theme going about dreaming of planning a garden during the long winter months. Autobiographical? Yes, absolutely. It's no secret spring can not come fast enough for moi. And I'm going to paint about it. The second one, with dog doesn't have any garden theme yet. Not sure what will happen with that one.
