Thank You, Cathedral Art!

Well, the middle one is not inspired by Giselbertus' sculptures... she's a modern mountain mama. But, it was so much fun taking inspiration from the very distant past, I'm going to do more. I'm hoping to do some new drawings today.

It has been kind of a whirlwind getting ready for Valentine's Day - even though it doesn't seem like one of those busy holidays! The kids and their valentine making... assembling, decorating their special boxes AND attaching candy to the cards. (hoping to share some photos if I can get 'em off my Blackberry) Plus Mama preparations for the 2 school parties, and helping with those. I don't know how the moms of many kids do all the stuff they do!! Last night, we managed to get a table at our favorite pizza parlor - so, we just had a romantic dinner there... with the kids. :)

Now exhaling and looking for time to make art today. Have a good one!

Eclectic Weekend

Stamped by the kids... grocery bag envelopes for the valentines!
Kid food - homemade pizza!
Saturday was sunny so the kids bundled up and played at the sand table... but we forgot to push is back under the eaves and this morning woke to a dusting of snow.

Hummus... almost done.

Carrot, cabbages, (2 colors) onion and garlic melange... infused with Indian spices, so yummy.

Hubby was workin' all weekend so the kids and I stayed busy at home. Here are just a few things we made and did!

Valentines and Orcas

Crayon rubbing
The Carved Woodblock
Orca watercolor by my 5 year old son.
I just love the watercolor my son did at school yesterday and had to share it. Kids have really got 'it'! Here's a valentine I've been working on.... inspired by Scandinavian textiles... and probably some socks I used to wear as a child. I have a few more in the works and I'm anxious to finish carving so I can print!! The cards will eventually land in my etsy shop.

Winter Happiness

This morning at breakfast, I slipped these on... she still has her jammies on! Gotta love those little legs and feet!

My daughter's new ankle warmers.... didn't have enough left over yarn for longer leg warmers. But, these also double as wrist/hand warmers for moi! (who knew?) Sometimes experiments bring great rewards :)
My son and I had a valentine making party... he loves the glitter glue and I had to confiscate it after awhile because he was making 'glitter haystacks.' We are making 14 + 2 for the teacher and aide. He is very focused on making the envelopes... last year we made them out of newspaper, stamped with red hearts.

Finally I finished these socks for myself. These are my first cotton blend socks - usually I use superwash wool. Love the way these turned out! Happy weekend.
