New Ornaments!

These Christmas ornaments are made of Laguna Air-Dry clay. They are a bit fragile but turned out quite nicely, I'm really happy with them! Next time, I may try using ink before I stamp them instead of just paint. They're being stored in a pizza box - my son's idea... and a very good one indeed! Some of these will be going to a gallery (The Tinman Artworks if you're in Spokane, WA) show of artist's ornaments... some to a show in early December and a few for the etsy shop.

Accordian Book

Here's an example of a book that's in the making... The script is Humanist Book hand and the stamps are by Rubbermoon. I made this one a while back - as a 'dummy book'. (sort of a dry run of what I want!) The poem is a great one by Ted Kooser - Flow Blue , I just love him. I may do another book in pointed italic using this poem... only with better paper and hand coloring.

Little Shrines and Crepes

Yes, I'm a bit paranoid about showing my kids photographs on the Internet... call me crazy but covering their photos will help me sleep at night!

Almost finished painting this one... but I have to fill in the Crepe menu. Hmmm, what sounds good?! I've been working on some more summer paintings and little shrine ornaments made with rubber stamps. They are so cute, made by Rubbermoon stamps. There's a little box that goes behind the cut out and that's where you put a photo or whatever you want... then with the 'frame' attached it gives depth. So much fun!

Creature from the Black Lagoon

UPDATE: The finished product!

My son is going to a birthday party today and while laying in bed waking up, I realized we didn't have a birthday card for him. I proceeded to run down to my studio while everyone was still asleep and stamp out the only 'boyish' stamp I have on a card. (My husband chose it from a stamp store I made him go to while visiting Cambria, California - a stop after Hearst Castle.)

Anyway, I hope to color in a background before my little guy wakes up. Good thing the party is inside since we are having another snow storm this morning - what ever happened to Spring?!
