Ballerina Butterflies and one Bumble Bee Boy

Picture day for the upcoming May dance recital was Saturday. I took about a gazillion backstage/preparation photos. The one, lone boy in the class was a bumble bee... but he would not line up with girls so it was tough to get a photo, darn!

Happy Sunday - the sun is actually out today, hooray :)

Happy Vernal Equinox...I think

Looking out over breakfast on the big day of Spring Equinox... here's what I found. It's beautiful but not what I was hoping for :( I want sun in my eyes and the picnic table dusted off with umbrella open. Oh well. There's always tomorrow!

Anne Lamott is in town tonight and I'm going to try, try , try to go listen to her speak. LOVE her work. Hope your first day of spring is green and sunny!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Just had to share this adorable pot of Rolos gold at the end of a Skittles rainbow.

This is a leprechaun trap! The gold, glittery stuff lures them in and boom, their foot will be caught in the white pipe-cleaner loop. Ingenious, no? Our kids set out salt water taffy to lure them :)

Have a super lucky, four-leaf clover kind of day!!

March Madness

Whoa, March has been quite a whirlwind in our house, schedules, extended family shenanigans... even the crazy weather . The windstorms, heavy downpours and occasional snow showers tell me that things are shifting, changing and evolving. With all that going on it has left me feeling a bit fragmented and bedraggled. But, I'm getting a hold of myself!

It's Friday and I had a great day of printing, running and later working on my quilt on the living room floor while listening to the end of a wonderful book (but I'll share that later).

Here are the latest ladies I printed today - wet ink but soon to have color. I've been vacillating about the First 100 Faces of 2012 project - possibly extending it for another month or two.

Much more tomorrow... until then, set out your leprechaun traps tonight, we will be doing that very thing. (salt water taffy is the bait :) Top 0' the evening to ya.

Today, at the Cafe de Flore

Here is a little glimpse at the new art quilt I'm working on... it's actually a commission. I'm willingly and happily doing an 'art for art' trade. This quilt is for the lady who does machine quilting for me... in exchange for her services, she wanted an art quilt instead of cold, hard cash. Not a problem! I'm having so much fun with this one... she love Paris cafes and asked for something along those lines. I'll share more as the painting progresses.

Happy 'almost' Friday. Tomorrow there will be a few '100 faces' sketches to share. See you then!

Grrrr, it's Monday

Whoa, doesn't Monday morning sometimes just bite you in the backside? This dog drawing by my own son would fit well with that am 'attitude' :) It's oil pastel and jewels... if I can brag a little, I think it's awesome!!! (don't forget to look at the details - like the bloodshot eyes)

We're off and running... have a grrreat day!

First 100 Faces Thursday

This is a man in progress!
I don't know about the lady in distress directly above. She may need to be seriously re-worked. I'm letting her percolate for now. All of these woodblocks are inky and wet right now. I'm planning on painting all of them and do have some previous ones - now painted- to share this weekend and soon on flickr.

As a sidebar, I have been printing these faces on quilter's cotton squares for some kind of quilt/fiber odyssey. This was actually my mom's idea... she always has good ones. Naturally, some will go to her as she's the REAL sewing lady. (as in she has the mad skills and I am lacking in that department.)

Now that it's March (and 20 days til vernal equinox, my son informs me) it's doubtful there will literally be 100 faces for this project. I'm going to do the best I can... as much as my thumb will allow to be carved. But, as April rolls in, so will a new project!
