Mary

Here is Mary - she is one of many drawings I've been doing lately. But... I've also made several ugly, unsuccessful drawings. What is going on? I guess I'm having a slump - hopefully I'm going to come out of it soon. I'll be finishing Mary soon and doing more faces - maybe some men?!
Happy hump day.

it's so hard to keep working when you feel off...maybe it's time to switch it up a bit and work in a new medium (encaustics?). i think the last few drawings you posted have been lovely but i really like the house and garden you did a while back and the swim lesson. i think you have a very fluid style and i like the paintings which have many elements in them...does that make sense?

Heidi!
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look at my work. I'm a big fan of your daily paintings. I don't know how you're finding time to paint with a new baby but bravo to you for getting right back into it. Hope you, baby and the rest of your family are doing well!

Hi Beth -
If only I could switch to encaustics... but I don't know the 1st thing about that medium! (maybe in a few years I can search out a class!!) I do know what you mean about the more detailed drawing/paintings. The faces are pretty stark in comparison... Maybe a few days off would help 'clear the slate'?! I appreciate the input, it's encouraging :)

I think what I like best about the faces that you draw is that you capture a unique personality and expression for each. They are fun to view and are very creative.
