The back... you can see the felting effect - kind of a cool look on it's own!
While listening to a book on CD late last night I obsessively worked on this penny rug... trying to assemble it while no one could come and push all the circles on the floor and disturb my 'layout'! I was thinking of autumn colors, trying to work with some wool I've had for quite a while... not knowing exactly what I would do with it. It will probably go to my etsy shop.
We had a great holiday weekend - all the cousins got together for a feast and chocolate cupcakes with candy corn decorations, then it was off to the park to play soccer - while the little ones played on the slide and in the dirt. Amazing how happy they are with the simplest things. School starts tomorrow for us... woo-hoo!

I love this! Great colors, shapes and textures! FUN!!
Enjoy the kids going back to school! Remember that STAPLES commercial where the parents were gleefully gliding around the store buying back to school items for their scowling kids with "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" playing in the background?
:^)
Thanks, Martha:) Yes - that commercial is a good one! I just have one going back 3 days a wk... but it buys me some extra time! The 'baby' is going to be 2 very soon.
the penny rug is beautiful...are each of the circles sewn to the one next to it? the colors are so muted and transitional they really seem to reflect the change in season. school starts here tomorrow as well and i am really excited...a wee bit of studio time uninterrupted! beth
Hi Beth -
Yes... tomarrow sounds like it may be a creative day for us both, yay!
The penny rug question... the 3 different sizes of circles are layered on top of each other and then stabbed several times with felting needles. Then, I did hand sew each circle to the one next to it. Thanks for your comments!
I love this too, the colours are really lovely together...
